Rooted in Practice

This work is grounded in practical herbalism, tradition, careful preparation, and the belief that plant knowledge should be useful, accessible, and passed forward.

Meet the Founder

Im Alexis Williams but you can call we Wana the Rebel.

I am an herbal practitioner, educator, grower, and founder of Soil Rooted Remedies. My work brings together formal education in Integrative Health Sciences and herbal medicine, hands-on plant cultivation, traditional herbal preparation, and community-centered wellness education.

Through Soil Rooted Remedies, I create botanical preparations, teach practical herbal skills through the Learning Lab, offer hands-on workshops and educational experiences, cultivate plants through the Farmacy, and continue building opportunities for individualized herbal wellness support.

For me, herbalism is more than wellness. It is rebellion, ancestral wisdom, restoration, and freedom.

I am the first in both my maternal and paternal lineage to intentionally return to the soil, to herbal medicine, and to spiritual practice. That return has shaped the way I understand healing, education, community, and the work I am building through Soil Rooted Remedies.

My relationship with herbs has grown through lived experience, formal education in integrative health and herbal medicine, growing plants, preparing remedies, and learning how plant knowledge can be carried into everyday life.

Herbalism is my return to Ma’at; To balance, truth, reciprocity, and right relationship with the earth, the Divine, ourselves, and one another.

It is homage to my bloodline. It is reclaiming knowledge, breaking inherited cycles, and making sure what I learn does not stop with me.

It is also one of the ways I give thanks to the Divine Mother, my Ancestors, and the Divine Feminine.

Through Soil Rooted Remedies, I bring together herbal medicine, cultivation, education, spirituality, and community care in a way that honors where I come from while creating something meaningful to pass forward.
